Direct from London to New Haven

According to Variety, two very popular London plays - Happy Now and Scarborough - will have their American premieres in Downtown New Haven this coming season. In other, unrelated New Haven theater news, Yale University received a $3 million grant to establish a center for new theater commissions.

It is almost unbelievable that New Haven has both the Long Wharf and the Yale Rep, in such a small town. I confess that I much prefer the Rep's location, because downtown I can grab a bite beforehand and a drink afterwards, without having to drive and re-park. I am really looking forward to the Long Wharf's move downtown.
